Dear Chairs,

on 20 August (yesterday) the MultilingualWeb-LT Working Group has
published a third last call Working Draft of "Internationalization Tag
Set (ITS) 2.0" [1].

The group has addressed all comments received during the second LC
period, see the disposition of comments at [2].

One substantive change was made after the second last call period: NIF
was changed to be a non-normative feature. See also the status section
[3]. This is the reason for publishing a 3rd last call draft.

The last call period ends 10 September.

There are allready two implementations for each feature - see the
implementation report, already created before deciding to move to last
call again [4]. Hence, the Working Group is planning to move directly to
proposed recommendation status.

We especially invite comments from the following groups and we welcome
comments from any other Working Groups.

- HTML Working Group
- RDF Working Group
- Internationalization Working Group

Comments from the RDF Working Group are esp. welcome since the aforehand
mentioned NIF feature is relevant for representing ITS 2.0 information
in RDF:

The latest Editor's draft for the Last Call Working Draft publication is
available at [5].

Abstract:
---------
The technology described in this document – the Internationalization Tag
Set (ITS) 2.0 – enhances the foundation to integrate automated
processing of human language into core Web technologies. ITS 2.0 bears
many commonalities with its predecessor, ITS 1.0 but provides additional
concepts that are designed to foster the automated creation and
processing of multilingual Web content. ITS 2.0 focuses on HTML,
XML-based formats in general, and can leverage processing based on the
XML Localization Interchange File Format (XLIFF), as well as the Natural
Language Processing Interchange Format (NIF).
---------

Best regards,

Felix Sasaki (staff contact and co-chair of the MultilingualWeb-LT
Working Group)
