Thanks for this message which I fully support. You have very well expressed the views of business-oriented pragmatists watching this stand-off. 

It’s very encouraging to hear from enterprise users of semantic technologies who are trying hard to champion the potential in their businesses.

The battles I face in the enterprise world are mostly about the complexity of tooling, the steep learning curve and the very academic nature of the subject which is not particularly friendly, accessible or usable by the vast majority of business analysts. They, in my view, are the very people who could obtain immense value become supporters in the business world if practical standards like SHACL were allowed to mature.

The weak alternatives that some in the business community are getting excited about (like DMN from the OMG) are very poor in comparison, but already have far greater momentum building (see the recent BBC conference in Las Vegas for examples of practitioner papers on the subject).
