SteveH, We'll move on to Protocol to give you more time to connect

will more time make you more successful?

<SteveH> dunno

<SteveH> will try again in 10 mins or so

<kendallclark> KendallC talks a bit about Opera's community portal deploying a public SPARQL service, and the developer's requests for SADDLE.

SteveH,

<LeeF> See http://my.opera.com/community/sparql/

<libby> also Joshua Tauberer and govtrack today

SteveH, please try zakim again

<libby> and http://www.govtrack.us/sparql.xpd

you can /msg amy for help

decimal vs. double

<scribe> ACTION: AndyS to update rq23 to reflect double => decimal progress/done. test impact? [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2005/12/06-dawg-minutes.html#action08]

<AndyS> http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-rdf-dawg/2005OctDec/0246.html

<AndyS> DONE http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-rdf-dawg/2005OctDec/0246.html

we used to parse "5.3" as a double

we now parse "5.3" as a decimal

<AndyS> "5.3e0" is still a double

<jeen> but there's no shorthand for that is there?

<AndyS> Shorthand?? Shorter than 5.3e0 ??

<AndyS> If there is an exponent, it's a double.

<AndyS> ACTION: AndyS to Make the decimal/double test changes for later WG approval [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2005/12/06-dawg-minutes.html#action09]

<LeeF> AndyS: 5.3e0 is shorthand for xsd:double as per XPath

<kendallclark> "5" is an integer; "5.3" is a decimal; "5.3e0" is a double.

Value Testing

Note recent changes in ValueTesting:

resolving inconsistencies in SPARQL Results mime registration

reformatted 11 Testing Values

http://www.w3.org/mid/20051125012116.GO17026@w3.org

s/xsd:string/plain literal/g

fixing regex collations

http://www.w3.org/mid/20051127213715.GJ412@w3.org

<LeeF> Aye, good move.

<AndyS> F&O : http://www.w3.org/TR/xpath-functions/#func-matches

http://www.w3.org/mid/20051127213715.GJ412@w3.org

<AndyS> fn:matches

http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/DataAccess/rq23/#OperatorMapping

<AndyS> fn:compare is used for "="

[[

The collation for fn:compare is defined by XPath and identified by http://www.w3.org/2005/xpath-functions/collation/codepoint. This collation allows for string comparison based on code point values. Codepoint string equivilence can be tested with RDF term equivilence.

]]

<kendallclark> every penny I have!

welcome SteveH

foo: shoeSize "10.5"^^xsd:float

<SteveH> +1 to what andy's saying

<LeeF> Lee: no direct work w/ floats vs. doubles in my RDF data -- preference for simpler is better, but not well-enough versed to know all the gotchas

<SteveH> whats the cost of us using floats?

<SteveH> ive got users with lots of doubles, but thier 10.5 in turtle mostly

<SteveH> ie. they will be decimal at some point

<SteveH> I dont think it would be much of a cost to me either

<SteveH> but SPAQRL is allready too complex IMHO

we will adjourn soon
