Bio: PhD from Univ. of Wisconsin - Madison in databases.
I'm currently at HP Labs in Palo Alto, California.
My previous work (at Bell Labs/Bellcore, MCC and HP
Labs) was on next generation database management
systems (e.g., object systems, main-memory systems)
and on data mining/ data analytics. I worked with the
HP Semantic Web team (in Bristol, UK) last year to help
develop the storage subsystem for the second version
of Jena.
The best way to contact me is email (Kevin.Wilkinson@hp.com)
Interests/Expectations: I'm especially interested in the
mapping between RDF and relational databases. I'm also
interested in "closed" query language, i.e., queries
that return graphs that can subsequently be queried.
I'm concerned that RDF has not seen wider use and not
gotten much interest from the database community which
is focused on XML. I hope this working group can leverage
some lessons from XMLQuery and develop a succinct,
powerful yet relatively easy-to-implement specification.
