FYI: I mentioned some time ago that I wanted to document why we didn't just re-use ISO/IEC 9075-14, but defined our own slightly different mapping from SQL datatypes to XSD datatypes. Done here:

This is just to put on the record why we didn't do what's usually considered the Right Thing and re-used an existing standard.
