Re: Event Updated: RDF Canonicalization and Hash Working Group

Regarding the status of N-Quads canonicalization, both PR 17 [1] and issue 16 [2] are pertinent, and I encourage members of the RCH WG to comment and support the PR/issue which will be useful for the RDF-star WG to decide to proceed.

PR 17 cleans up some text from a previous PR on canonicalization and prohibits the use of xsd:string when canonicalizing plain literals.

Issue 16 is not yet in the form of a PR and proposes extending the range of characters that must be escaped to avoid clear text which is either obfuscated (e.g., backspace or DEL) or in some cases not necessarily even representable (e.g. U+0000 NUL). This would break test case 0060, and the RCH WG should take a position on this. One possibility would be to oppose the issue due to backwards compatibility concerns even with the limitations.

Also, encourage releasing this in a Working Draft ASAP, along with other RDF-star deliverables including RDF Concepts.
