Dear All, I'm relaying the announcement to the group's primary public mailing list, to notify the group of the approval of the initial charter for the RDF Dataset Canonicalization and Hash Working Group and call for participation. With kind regards, Xueyuan Jia, Marketing & Communications -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: Call for Participation: RDF Dataset Canonicalization and Hash Working Group Charter Approved; Join the RCH WG Date: Thu, 21 Jul 2022 14:36:29 +0800 From: xueyuan <xueyuan@w3.org> To: w3c-ac-members@w3.org Dear Advisory Committee Representative, [This announcement will be forwarded to W3C group chairs] The Director is pleased to announce the charter of the RDF Dataset Canonicalization and Hash Working Group. https://www.w3.org/2022/07/rch-wg-charter/ The group is chartered from 21 July 2022 to 20 July 2024. The mission of the RDF Dataset Canonicalization and Hash Working Group is to define a standard to uniquely and deterministically calculate a hash of RDF Datasets for use cases such as Detecting changes in Datasets. The work will include defining RDF Dataset Canonicalization algorithms. There are a variety of use cases that depend on the ability to calculate a unique and deterministic hash value of RDF Datasets, such as Verifiable Credentials, the publication of biological and pharmaceutical data, or consumption of mission critical RDF vocabularies that depend on the ability to verify the authenticity and integrity of the data being consumed. See the explainer document for more details: https://www.w3.org/2022/07/rch-wg-charter/explainer.html Please use the following form to join the group. The form will also instruct you how to nominate participants: https://www.w3.org/groups/wg/rch/join Please consider diversity when proposing people to participate in W3C groups. Representation from a wider group of people, especially people from under-represented groups, is vital for creating web standards that meet the needs of the wider web community. The group chairs are Phil Archer (GS1) and Markus Sabadello (Danube Tech). The Team Contact is Pierre-Antoine Champin (0.15 FTE). The group plans to have a meeting during TPAC 2022. More information about the group can be found on its home page: https://www.w3.org/groups/wg/rch [...] This announcement follows section 5.7.2 of the W3C Process Document: https://www.w3.org/2021/Process-20211102/#ACReviewAfter and the Call for Participation follows section 4.4 of the W3C Process Document: https://www.w3.org/2021/Process-20211102/#cfp Thank you, For Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director, Pierre-Antoine Champin, RDF Dataset Canonicalization and Hash WG Team Contact; Xueyuan Jia, W3C Marketing & Communications
