Re: RAX Community: Position Statement, Call for Interest

Hi all,

Glad to be back after so many attempts to join in again. Hopes to do so soon didn't come true for the last year or so, but now things really seem to have changed for the better.

As I cannot fail to notice, there are two chapters to be filled in by me:

1) Data on/for Public Administration

2) Conversion of EAD to RDF

The former of these is quite vast a subject if we decide to cover most of its ramifications, so we'll have to cut it down to size. Maybe a group of public servants who are also Linked Data adepts would be interested to participate in some way. The latter of the subjects to be treated relies very heavily on an article written by Antoine Isaac, Victor de Boer a.o., and presents a model that was extended a little bit by myself within the archives' context.

In order not to promise too much at a time, I suggest I will work out the EAD case first. @Felix and/or Christian, if you happen to be in Galway right now, we could talk matters through in person

Kind regards,

Gerard

All

At today’s call ([1] minutes<https://www.w3.org/2017/06/02-rax-minutes.html>) we discussed the viability of continuing the group and self-imposing some additional motivation for continuing the work we started on the wiki [2]. Per Christoph’s email suggestion, Christian has proposed that we submit a position statement to the industry track of the [3] International Semantic Web Conference<https://iswc2017.semanticweb.org/calls/call-for-contributions-industry-track-iswc-2017/>.

As such this is a *call for assistance* in preparing such a document. Would those who could commit some effort in authoring a paper please signal their interest by reply to this email before June 15th. Once we have a list of volunteers we’ll formulate and publish a work plan.
