Hello, I think validator 0.8.6 is ready to be released. I've updated the "what's new" section, see http://qa-dev.w3.org/wmvs/HEAD/whatsnew.html#v086 Anyone have anything that should still make it into this version? If not, I think doing the release later this week would be fine. What still needs to be done: 1) Update actual release date in htdocs/whatsnew.html, and tag the release. I'll take care of this when the release date is known. 2) Generate tarballs and upload to validator.w3.org. I'll need help from someone with permissions to do this; generating the tarballs should be a matter of "cvs co validator-0_8_6-release ; make dist". 3) Deploy to validator.w3.org servers. Again, I don't have permissions to take care of this so I'll need help from someone with this too. There are a few dependency changes but they should be quite conservative, except that the JSON perl module is now needed (see what's new above). Also, if the validator.w3.org instances are not running the validator with mod_perl, I recommend considering enabling template caching, see the "Cache" option in validator.conf. 4) Post release announcement. IMO it'd be best if someone @w3.org would take care of this. Anyone here able to help out with 2), 3) and 4) above, or know who should I contact about them?
