Follow-up on my attempts to improve the feedback process for the markup validator... Based on the resolution of our last meeting, I have abandoned the idea of making a fill form-based feeback, but retained the solution of a dynamic (in our case, using our templating system) page giving all the info of our current http://validator.w3.org/feedback.html and providing additional help to be usable as a feedback mechanism also for "error message feedback". One elegant (?) way I have found of replacing the current feedback.html is to use an Apache ScriptAlias directive. This way, our instance(s) of the validator will have the "better" feedback page but other instances, if they are not set up properly for the dynamic page to function, will show the static feedback.html e.g compare http://qa-dev.w3.org/wmvs/HEAD/feedback.html with http://qa-dev.w3.org/wmvs/HEAD/feedback.html?errmsg_id=70#errormsg The latter URI is what I think error messages should link to, instead of the current mailto:www-validator@w3.org? Subject=[VE][82]%20Error%0Message%20Feedback Your feedback most welcome. Ville in particular, this implementation follows the plan you suggested, is that what you had in mind? Terje, I recall you had reservations about the plan, did you manage to find an alternative you like? Thanks. -- olivier
