At some point, I wonder if we might be able to communicate that when a colleague accidentally misgenders a colleague it is not appropriate to interrupt them to correct them. It is better to do so after they finish speaking and allow the individual who is misgendered to correct them instead of jumping on the individual. If it is an obvious intentional misgendering that may be a different situation. Intention versus Impact, certainly, isn’t always apparent. Yet, impact is valid regardless. I know I struggle with this with a couple of individuals, and it is certainly not intentional. I need to be able to work through it without being pounded by the interruption. I am trying but I do make mistakes. When someone interrupts to correct me it feels violent and rattles me.
