I see that the idea of awards was discussed at last week's meeting: https://www.w3.org/2024/04/02-pwe-minutes.html Sorry I was unable to join the call. Comments: - I love the idea. - I like the "Unsung Hero" idea too. - I suggest not trying to decide award categories in advance, but decide the recipients first, and then recognized each recipient for that individual's unique contributions. - We shouldn't commit to reading the full list of the nominees, in case there are deliberately flippant or hostile nominations. - I think a framed certificate is better than anything of physical value. - One thing that wasn't clear from either the slides or notes: Are these awards specifically for helping to create an inclusive standards development environment, or to "Recognize outstanding people doing great work in Web Standards" in general? I hope it is the former. It needs to be clear in all of the publicity, including the call for nominations. I think this is a great way to promote a more inclusive culture. Thanks, David Booth
