PWE awards discussion

I see that the idea of awards was discussed at last week's meeting:
https://www.w3.org/2024/04/02-pwe-minutes.html

Sorry I was unable to join the call. Comments:

  - I love the idea.

  - I like the "Unsung Hero" idea too.

  - I suggest not trying to decide award categories in advance, but
decide the recipients first, and then recognized each recipient for that
individual's unique contributions.

  - We shouldn't commit to reading the full list of the nominees, in
case there are deliberately flippant or hostile nominations.

  - I think a framed certificate is better than anything of physical value.

  - One thing that wasn't clear from either the slides or notes: Are
these awards specifically for helping to create an inclusive standards
development environment, or to "Recognize outstanding people doing great
work in Web Standards" in general? I hope it is the former. It needs
to be clear in all of the publicity, including the call for nominations.
I think this is a great way to promote a more inclusive culture.

Thanks,
David Booth
