There is this activity (editing and redacting content) which is alarmist. We have testimony from Chaals that it is done. Not including it in CEPC does not make it go away. It only means that it is done with no guidance. The advantage of putting in CEPC is that it allows us to talk about the nuances. It clarifies how rarely it should be used. It clarifies when it might be used: who chairs might consult with; when it is so extreme it should be done right away, etc. This is the fullness of what I wanted described in issue #41. Avoiding the issue for this year may or may not be the right thing for this year, and I'm willing to align with the consensus. I never learned to do this in chair training, but I have often been backed up by other chairs and group members (including people in this CG), and unsurprisingly have also backed off and apologised for overstepping the boundaries of reasonable and proportional. I have likewise found myself in the position of feeling that a co-chair has overstepped, and imposed an unduly harsh restriction.
