Re: Interactive Media Community Group

Hi everyone, next week I am only available on Tuesday after 11am Eastern, but I don’t need to be there if Zheng or Wolfgang are able to make it.

Sounds very interesting! Yes I agree, there may be some areas of overlap between what you’re looking at doing and what we’ve been exploring here in this Sync Media CG. I would be available for a call next week, after 16 UTC on any of those days would be ok for me.

Thanks Wendy! Next week could be OK, perhaps Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday?

I think a joint meeting would be a very good idea. I’d recommend bringing in the Publishing Community group as well. (I’ve CC’d the chairs and list).

Finding a date/time that works for most of us shouldn’t be too arduous (she says hopefully), would something next week work?

Hi all,

Adam has shared this also with the Media & Entertainment Interest Group, so I wonder if we could invite members of that group too, or possibly organise as a joint meeting?

Sounds good. Please email me a link for a call.

Thank you. I will also forward this announcement to a W3C publishing-related group.

Best regards,

Hi Adam!

I am happy to join a call as well, in addition to synchronized media, I’m sure the publishing crowd in general might find this very interesting.

Hey Adam 🙂👋

More rich story telling to the people! Let's keep things, well, synchronized shall we 😉

How about a chat sometime next week perhaps?

All the best,

Synchronized Multimedia for Publications Community Group,

Hello. I am pleased to share that a new Community Group has been proposed: the Interactive Media Community Group.

The Interactive Media Community Group is interested in all forms of interactive media, e.g., branching narratives, digital gamebooks, interactive films, and serious games. This group considers and discusses how standardization can support all forms of interactive media. This group may work on a number of deliverables, reports, and specifications.

One of the technologies that the IMCG shall work on is, tentatively, called Advanced Media Processing Language (AMPL).

A rough-draft sketch:

<ampl version="0.1">
      <thread name="default">
          <video src="branch1.webm" />
          <switch src="menu.cml" script="choice.js" onswitch="f1">
            <case value="1">
              <video src="branch2.webm" />
            <case value="2">
              <video src="branch3.webm" />
            <case value="undefined" default="true">
              <video src="branch4.webm" />
          <video src="branch5.webm" />

As you can see, AMPL and synchronized multimedia have some overlap. I am optimistic about opportunities for collaboration between our groups.

If you have a moment, please consider supporting the creation of the new group:<> . After the proposed Community Group receives five votes in support of its creation, I invite you to also consider joining the group. Thank you.

Best regards,
Adam Sobieski<>
