Informal Report of the ISO/IEC JTC1/SC34/JWG7 meeting in Milan (March 28 and 29)

Dear colleagues,

Here is an informal report.  A set of JWG7 recommendations
will be published soon.

1) EPUB A11Y

Title: Digital Publishing – EPUB Accessibility – Conformance and
Discoverability Requirements for EPUB Publications

Project editor: Matt

Schedule: Committee Draft by June; hopefully Draft International
Standard after Fukuoka; and International Standard next year

Issue: Italian publishers prefer detached metadata (ONIX and MARC)
rather than embedded metadata

2) DRM

Title: Specification of DRM technology for digital publications

Project editors: Tae-Hyun Kim and Laurent Le Meur

Structure:
  Topic for Part 1: Overview of DRM approaches including non-encryption
based
  Topic for Part 2: User key-based protection also known as Readium LCP
  Topic for Part 3: Device key-based protection

Schedule:

  Parts 1 and 2: Proposed Draft Technical Specifications soon;
  hopefully Technical Specifications by the end of this year.
  Part 3: Not clear yet
