We are comping all speakers (to Pub Summit, not other days of TPAC), this is clear on the overall event wiki and I thought we already talked about it. Only hiccup was discount code was not originally set up, it’s being worked on now. --Bill From: Bill Kasdorf [mailto:bkasdorf@apexcovantage.com] Sent: Friday, June 16, 2017 6:02 AM To: Siegman, Tzviya - Hoboken <tsiegman@wiley.com> Cc: Garth Conboy <garth@google.com>; W3C Publishing Business Group (public-publishingbg@w3.org) <public-publishingbg@w3.org> Subject: Re: Summit registration is open--call for proposals That happened with STM a few years ago, when they decided to make speakers pay. Speakers were so angry that STM backed down. But SSP and AAUP have no problem getting members to speak despite having to pay. That's because it's such a longstanding policy and everybody knows what the deal is. _Changing_ the deal is what upsets people the most. Since this is year one, we need to be careful to get it right. My recommendation: comp speakers for the Summit; pay to attend TPAC even on the day they speak. They're two separate events. Most events comp speakers, usually for the whole event, sometimes just for the day they're speaking. Membership orgs often do that for non-member speakers but require members to pay the full registration fee (AAUP) or a discounted rate (SSP). I assume this is W3C's call, right, Bill M? First priority, of course, is REGISTER!! (That includes booking the hotel: rooms go fast, and prices go up.) Note that if you are also attending TPAC, the rate is significantly discounted. So I encourage you to register for TPAC, too: https://www.w3.org/2017/11/TPAC/Overview.html. You’ll also see a link to the Program Committee on the Summit announcement. While it may look as if we’ve got quite a list of speakers already lined up (and indeed we do), the program is still very much under development. We welcome proposals! Please email them to the Committee by July 15 at: pubsummitprogram@googlegroups.com <mailto:pubsummitprogram@googlegroups.com> . Thanks!
