RE: Hello

Makes sense! Sorry I didn’t realize he was already on the WG! In any case, you being on the PBG makes perfect sense, so thanks for doing that.

Hi Bill,

Thanks! Maurice is currently on the Working Group, as are a few other Michigan folks. After a bit of experience, we're finding that it would be better for a single representative from Michigan to sit on the group and really engage (rather than a larger number of folks being somewhat involved), so we’re talking internally about who this should be…possibly Maurice, or someone else at the Library with deep technical know-how.

Hi, Jason! Really glad you’re joining the group. Will you, and/or perhaps Maurice, also be joining the Working Group? I hope so!

[PBG folks: Jason’s colleague Maurice York will be presenting at the Summit on the things Jason mentioned.]

Subject: Hello

All,

Just wanted to introduce myself briefly as I’ve joined the publishing business group. I direct the Publishing Services unit in the University of Michigan Library (we’ve just joined through the TPI membership option) and serve as the Library’s AC member. In this context, I’m particularly interested in accessibility, sustainability, and preservation issues for EPUB-based publishing. We at Michigan continue to develop our Mellon-funded digital publishing platform, Fulcrum<http://fulcrum.org/>, which is based on the Samvera/Fedora framework and aimed particularly at the needs of University Presses and Library publishers and will be using EPUB 3 as the underlying format in its repository.

I’m afraid that I have a standing conflict on Tuesday noon for the Group’s calls, but I will try to stay abreast of the conversation and contribute as I can.

Best wishes,
Jason
