MDN [1], the popular Web documentation portal operated by Mozilla and in
which W3C is involved via its Product Advisory Board [2], is starting an
effort to map the gaps of the browser-based Web platform as perceived by
developers; the main component of that effort at the moment is to run an
annual survey, using the reach of MDN and other PAB members, to get as
good a picture of possible of where Web developers are experiencing
difficulties when building for the Web. A specific goal of this survey
is to help better inform priorities in terms of how the platform needs
to evolve (both in terms of implementations and in terms of
technologies, i.e. standards).
The first edition of this survey is planned to be run in the upcoming
couple of months, and W3C Working Groups chairs are invited to bring
their input on additions, clarifications or changes they would identify
on the current draft: [...]
Thanks to all of you who contributed feedback to the first version of
the survey; the MDN team has taken into account and run a first pilot of
the survey to come up with an updated version:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uWg05qUR9QPk12BWTQqQuYRH-K3UExytE80lL93FKig/edit?ts=5cc0d486
They're looking for additional feedback on that new version, which they
hope to be the last one before actually running the survey in the next
few weeks. If you do want to bring additional feedback, please comment
on the document above before next Friday (May 2nd).
And as before, if you can't access or use this on Google docs, please
let me know and I'll do my best to serve as a conduit.
