New Member Introduction

Hello,


I wanted to introduce myself before the next meeting. My name is Derek Jackson, and I work at Harvard Business Publishing in Boston, Massachusetts, and I am the manager of Content Production in Higher Ed. HBS previously had a membership at the IDPF and when the organizations merged we became W3C members. I have joined as a representative from HBS to learn about the W3C and how we can take advantage of the membership. We produce EPUBs and so are invested in that spec and its support and development. As a member we would also like to contribute to and find guidance from the W3C, specifically in the area of digital publishing.


Some areas of particular interest are the deliverables of the group. We have had mixed results publishing online and the Web Publications and Packaged Web Publications are of interest. More immediately, accessibility is a growing concern in our organization, and the groups efforts to make EPUB accessible, and provide guidance in accessibility and publishing are also of great interest.


I am a brand new member to this group and so unsure what else to include. Please, if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask. I am excited to be a part of the group and look forward to learning from everyone!
