Hi all, Regarding the discussion between Graham and Luc about the resource, snapshot and container, I would like to link it to the notion of Provenance Container. What do we understand by a provenance container? Should it be a resource (like a triple store containing just provenance triples, that may change in the time), snapshot(a named graph at a specific time) or a r-text? In the Dublin Core Metadata Provenance Task Group [1], we have been discussing for some time how to describe the provenance of metadata. We have reused the terms "Description" and "Description Set" [2] from DCAM [3] to group the provenance statements and be able to assert provenance about them. I think that a starting point for the definition of Provenance Container could be similar to the "Description Set" ( A set of one or more Descriptions, each of which describes a single resource). Why would be useful to be able to describe a provenance container? In the example, it could be helpful to know who generated the provenance records, if they were generated automatically or manually, and when were they generated. Therefore, if two different organizations create the provenance records and there is conflicting information about some of the resources (e.g. different author for the same chart), anyone can filter how they have generated each Description Set. I'm not sure if this is within the scope of the group, but please let me know what you think. I'll add the info to the wiki.
