Since "responsibility" is the distinguishing notion in agency (according to Yolanda's proposal), I think that "responsibility" should be included in the name of the relation.
A possible counter proposal for "wasAssociatedBy":
hadResponsibilityFor
Jim Myers suggested "bearsResponsibilityFor".
