[privacy-request] Issue: Mathematical Markup Language (MathML) Version 4.0 2026-03-04 > 2026-04-20 (#197) marked as REVIEW REQUESTED

NSoiffer has just labeled an issue for https://github.com/w3cping/privacy-request as "REVIEW REQUESTED":

== Mathematical Markup Language (MathML) Version 4.0 2026-03-04 > 2026-04-20 ==
This is for the transition of [MathML 4](https://www.w3.org/TR/mathml4) to CR. We hope to transition to CR ASAP, but by April 20 at the latest as our charter runs out in the fall.

#### What has changed since any previous review?
The last review was for MathML 3. MathML 4 has two major changes from MathML 3:
1. Alignment with [MathML Core](https://www.w3.org/TR/mathml-core/), which was reviewed before it went into CR
2. The addition of "[author intent](https://www.w3.org/TR/mathml4/#mixing_intent)". These are attributes that can be used by authors to disambiguate the speech for a notation. The goal is improved accessibility. These should not be a security or privacy issue.

#### Does your document have an in-line Privacy Considerations section, ideally one separate from the Security Considerations?
Yes, See sections [D.4](https://www.w3.org/TR/mathml4/#privacy) and [D.5](https://www.w3.org/TR/mathml4/#security). These are quite short and point out that browsers make use of [MathML Core,](https://www.w3.org/TR/mathml-core/) and that has already undergone review.

#### Please point to the results of your own self-review (see https://w3ctag.github.io/security-questionnaire/ , https://w3c.github.io/fingerprinting-guidance/, https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6973)

All browsers security and privacy issues are addressed in [MathML Core](https://www.w3.org/TR/mathml-core/), and that has already undergone review.

#### Where and how to file issues arising?
The only potential file issues are via linking. That uses the standard `<a>` tag and is part of MathML Core.

#### Pointer to any explainer for the spec?
This is V4 of the MathML spec. There is no explainer.

#### Other comments
MathML 4 has been aligned with MathML Core (which is in CR). MathML Core strips down the MathML spec for easier implementation by browsers. It also moves the spec towards the modern browser platform by leaning heavily on CSS to style the display. MathML 4 contains some elements that are not yet part of MathML Core. It also has a number of attributes that were removed from MathML because they are now implemented via CSS. To continue to support MathML that conforms to MathML 3, the WG has developed JS polyfills.

Note: this request is identical to the one files for security
