Dear Advisory Committee representative,
[This announcement will be forwarded to W3C group chairs]

W3C is pleased to announce the charter of the Privacy Working Group.
https://www.w3.org/2024/10/wg-privacy-charter.html

The group is chartered through 8 October 2026.

The mission of the Privacy Working Group is to improve privacy on the
Web both by advising groups developing standards on how to avoid and
mitigate privacy issues with Web technologies and by standardizing
mechanisms that improve user privacy on the Web.

Please use the following form to have your organization join the group.
The form will also instruct you how to nominate participants:
https://www.w3.org/groups/wg/privacy/join

Please consider diversity when proposing people to participate in W3C
groups. Representation from a wider group of people, especially people
from under-represented groups, is vital for creating web standards that
meet the needs of the wider web community.

The group plans to have its first (virtual) meeting on October 17. The
group uses <public-privacy@w3.org> (archive [1]) as its primary mailing
list for communications.

The group chairs are Christine Runnegar (Invited Expert), Pete Snyder
(Brave), and Nick Doty (Center for Democracy & Technology). The Team
Contact is Tara Whalen, <tara@w3.org>, for a total of 0.25 FTE.

More information about the group can be found on the group home page:
