[PING] next call - 21 May 2020 UTC 16

Hello everyone,

Thanks for joining the call last week. The minutes have been posted: https://www.w3.org/Privacy/IG/summaries/PING-minutes-20200507

Our next call is on Thursday 21 May 2020 at UTC 16

We will be picking up the conversation we started on the issues in our tracking repo on the Web Audio & Media Capture & Streams.

https://github.com/w3cping/tracking-issues/issues

As a follow-up to our call last week, the best place to look for summaries of the PING-initiated issues are in the text of the originally filed issue (which is identified in the privacy tracking issue), and the discussion in the issue thread in the relevant WG's repo. If folks still have questions about whats being discussed, the best place to get further information is in the WG/IG's issue, or in PING's tracking issue, depending on whether you're looking for WG/IG feedback and replies.

The PING chairs were asked to write an independent summary for each issue and get the respective WG/IG to sign off on the write up. However, upon reflection, this does not seem the best way forward. We used the last call to provide an overview of the issues for those who had not had a chance to review the discussion in Github. Rather than try to imperfectly summarise the discussion in each issue set out in Github, we ask those who are interested in helping us to triage the open Web Audio and Media Capture & Streams issues to take a look at the discussion in the issue in Github before the next call.

It was also proposed that we do a roll call to gauge opinions on the next call. We don't want to put PING participants on the spot, and would rather that people feel comfortable contributing their opinion when they feel is the right time. We'd like to understand and note where PING members think:
    a. the working group has successfully addressed the concern (and so the issue can be closed)
    b. the WG hasn't yet addressed the concern, but their current plan or approach is sufficient (and so PING should only keep an eye on the issue), or
    c. the working group has not addressed the concern, and hasn't yet worked out a plan to satisfactorily address the concern (and so further active involvement by a PING-member may be needed)

On the next PING call, we'll go through each issue, provide more overview or explanation as needed, have discussion, and take note of the views on how the issue should be treated with a view to reaching rough consensus if we can. Members are welcome and encouraged to be involved in discussing as many of the issues as they wish.

The goal of this triage is to accurately express to the relevant WG, IG, ACs, and director, whether each issue is being brought by an individual, a concerned subset of PING, all of PING.

Pete and Christine
