It is obviously early days, but this amendment to the FTC Act could deliver autonomy/user control capabilities to the Web, and other internet protocols/ecosystems. It suggests an FTC controlled website where users could opt-out/opt-in to data collection, examine previous choices etc. with an API that Things/UAs/apps could use to get the users preference. For the web the DNT or a follow on API could be used to register the recorded user preference in UAs. https://gizmodo.com/wyden-unveils-new-plan-to-protect-private-data-restore-1 830153516 Mike O'Neill Director Baycloud Systems The Oxford Centre for Innovation New Road, Oxford, OX1 1BY LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mikeoneill1/ Website: https://baycloud.com Tel: +44 1865 735619 Email: michael.oneill@baycloud.com Skype: mikeoneill
