Colleagues, This morning a draft (re-)charter for the Devices and Sensors WG was sent to the W3C AC for review. Since sensors and devices have many privacy implications, I encourage you to take a look at the charter and offer comments. Here is the charter text: https://w3c.github.io/dap-charter/DeviceAPICharter.html I encourage substantive discussion to happen on the WG's own mailing list: public-device-apis@w3.org. Simple textual suggestions may instead be filed as github issues or pull requests: https://github.com/w3c/dap-charter AC reps should file statements of support/non-support using the form linked below. -- Sam Weiler, W3C -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: Proposed Charter for the Devices and Sensors Working Group (Call for Review) Resent-Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2018 13:16:09 +0000 Resent-From: w3c-ac-members@w3.org Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2018 21:15:57 +0800 From: Xueyuan <xueyuan@w3.org> To: w3c-ac-forum@w3.org Dear Advisory Committee Representative, This is a Call for Review of a proposed revised charter for the Devices and Sensors Working Group: https://w3c.github.io/dap-charter/DeviceAPICharter.html Please review the charter and indicate your support using this online form: https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/33280/DAS-2018/ Please also raise any substantive comments on the WG's mailing list public-device-apis@w3.org. The deadline for responses is 23:59, Boston time on 25 May 2018. The most important changes from the previous charter are: - Added gyroscope, magnetometer, DeviceOrientation Event, and geolocation APIs to the group's deliverables. - Removed media capture, address books, messaging applications, and similar non-sensor APIs from the group's scope of work. - Reduced team support from .2 FTE to .1 FTE. A diff [1] showing changes between the new and old charter is available. If you have any questions or need further information, please contact Samuel Weiler, Privacy and Security Strategist, at weiler@w3.org. This charter review follows section 5 of the W3C Process Document: https://www.w3.org/2018/Process-20180201/#GAGeneral Thank you, For Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director, Samuel Weiler, Privacy and Security Strategist; Xueyuan Jia, Marketing & Communications [1] https://services.w3.org/htmldiff?doc1=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2016%2F03%2Fdevice-sensors-wg-charter.html&doc2=https%3A%2F%2Fw3c.github.io%2Fdap-charter%2FDeviceAPICharter.html
