Greetings, I wanted to update you on progress for the Data Privacy Legal Hackathons.. The Bay Area event will happen in San Francisco at Mozilla space at Harrison and Embarcadero, at their street level location. PRIZES for the SF contest: $1k, $500 and $250 There are more prizes for the other locations. IF you want to participate, or know of a team or two that would like to participate in this, that would be fantastic. We are in need of ***engineers, ***usability and product folks, and ***legal scholars interested in ***privacy and personal data issues***. The aim of this announcement is to fire up a call to action to legally hack data privacy. We all know it's past time to collaborate and start doing something about the state of privacy and personal data, including the notice and consent work we propose. As apart of this project, Open Notice is sponsoring a pre-hackathon project to create a Legal Map for hackers to use at the event. We are also working to propose a project based on a use case called the Consent Receipt Scenario to enable ‘customisers' to control personal information. We are also building what we call the Consent Receipt & Map infrastructure as the basis for the Open Notice and Consent Receipt project. The link above will take you to the current state of that work. Thank you! Mary Hodder ********************************** Data Privacy Legal Hack-A-thon This is an unprecedented year documenting our loss of Privacy. Never before have we needed to stand up and team up to do something about it. In honour of Privacy Day, the Legal Hackers are leading the charge to do something about it, inspiring a two-day international Data Privacy Legal Hackathon. This is no ordinary event. Instead of talking about creating privacy tools in theory, the Data Privacy Legal Hackathon is about action! A call to action for tech & legal innovators who want to make a difference!
