On BBC Radio 4 news this morning, a government spokesman noted we are doing this because we can, and to help address security concerns for this year's Olympics and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. He later added that a warrant wouldn't be needed to access records of messages, but would be needed for access to their content. An opposition spokesman noted that this bill if passed wouldn't take effect until next year (i.e. well after those two events). -- Dave Raggett <dsr@w3.org> http://www.w3.org/People/Raggett
