POI / RDF WG liaison - JSON task force

Hello Points of Interest (POI) WG,

(Cc:'ing RDF WG co-chairs),

As just mentioned, W3C has just launched a group to make some modest
improvements to the RDF (Resource Description Framework) specs.

Amongst these: a spec for RDF in JSON. The RDF WG is currently exchanging a
lot of mail figuring out what exactly it wants to do in this area.

Roughly, this will standardise a way of having JSON documents that can be
interpreted as encoding RDF triples, and hence use (or map to) RDF
vocabularies, datasets, ... and bridge to other RDF specs and tools such as
SPARQL for querying, RDFa for exposing the same data within HTML pages.

I suggest the POI WG could be a good potential customer for the new RDF
work. Ideally this would be a no-strings-attached relationship between the
groups (ie. not a strict dependency) in which POI WGs thoughts about JSON
format requirements/constraints are communicated to RDF WG; and RDF WG's
draft designs for a JSON format are offered to POI WG for alpha-testing. I'd
be happy to play such a liason role.
