Dear Advisory Committee Representative,
[This announcement will be forwarded to W3C group chairs]

This is a Call for Review of a proposed recharter for the Pointer Events
Working Group:
https://www.w3.org/2026/05/proposed-pointer-events-wg.html

Please review the charter and indicate your support using this online form:
https://www.w3.org/wbs/33280/pointer-events-2026/

The deadline for responses is 23:59 UTC on 2026-06-22 [0].

The mission of the Pointer Events Working Group is to provide methods to
enable simple device-independent input from pointing devices such as
mouse, pen, and multi-touch screen.

The only change in this proposed new charter was to make it clearer that
Mouse Events are within the scope of the Working Group. The group scope
remains unchanged since it was only a clarification.

Current participants will not need to rejoin the group if the revised
charter is approved.

The horizontal review of the charter is available as a Strategy Github
repository issue:
https://github.com/w3c/strategy/issues/515

A disposition of comments on the draft charter is available at:
https://github.com/w3c/charter-drafts/issues?q=%22wg%2Fpointer-events%22

The current charter [1] is hereby extended until 31 July 2026 to
accommodate the charter review period.
