@patrickhlauke took the words right out of my mouth. I would not want us to get into the business of standardizing based on real pressure. The HW capabilities can evolve more quickly than we can change our specs and myriad of implementations. Let the HW vendors figure out how to make their HW work with the operating systems - we should then ride on the coattails of the operating systems.
