Re: [AGENDA] Publishing Maintenance WG Teleconference - April 16 2026

Hello,

I'll be on the call today.

In terms of priorities, I think that we should discuss items that are
blockers for reading system implementations first:

   - https://github.com/w3c/epub-specs/issues/2944

They're the top reason why I would call our current specification broken
for implementers. We've started implementing Media Overlays in the Swift
toolkit for Readium in February and we couldn't complete that task because
of these issues.
We feel that to ship this feature, we'll need to do the opposite of what
the spec says in a few places.

Text fragments are lower priority since:

   - the current specification do not explicitly block other media
fragments (it doesn't recommend using them either)
   - and we're talking about an experimental feature that's very attractive
   but also a bit risky

Best,
Hadrien
