I think the document is fine the way it is for publishing, but I would also suggest adding:
Suggestion 1:
Rule 6: Do not add the default role to an HTML5 element, since this may change the behavior of the default control:

Suggestion 2:
I would also suggest a section on live regions, it seems new people to aria like to add live regions for many things that are handled by focus changes, for example popup menus.
Suggestion 3:
The OpenAjax evaluation library and supporting tools are also providing an open source way of validating the use of ARIA in HTML5 validation
