Update: Speaking to Will Wade at OpenAAC it seems this is old news re-announced. https://educationblog.microsoft.com/en-us/2018/03/immersive-reader-update-picture-dictionary-speech-colors-roaming/ Then PCS (from TobiiDynavox) were the only symbols supported and probably still are. Will was encouraging Hector Minto to open up to more symbols eg OpenSymbols or Global Symbols.
