PDF and (linked) (open) data; using CSV?; meet at TPAC

Quite a bit of ‘open’ data is published as PDF (aka ISO 32000) for a variety of reasons.
It’s possible to put data in PDF files in a variety of ways.

There is a new community group [1] to explore best practices for PDF and data.

There is a draft charter [2][3] but not final; if you will be at TPAC, are you
interested in meeting to find out more and consider participating?

One way we’ve been exploring (in [8]) is using the PDF/A-3 feature
of attaching files in PDF is to use CSV as a PDF file attachment
associated with tables, charts, and so forth.

(embedding CSV data in the XMP[9] metadata is another method
which is applicable to other file formats like JPEG, PNG, …)

So I’m hoping this work is of some interest to members and followers
of the CSV working group.

It was late to request a meeting slot, but Tuesday 8:30-10:30
is available. We’ve also proposed a session on plenary day.

See [2] for a draft charter[3] background material[4] and issues[5]

If you’ll be at TPAC and would like to discuss the problem space, requirements, use cases, etc. this is an opportunity to do so face-to-face.

Join the group[6] or subscribe to the list[7] to discuss.
