FWIW, the (in)famous Saturn system uses another principle than featured in the video clip which simply is "handover" of the request to the mobile phone which doesn't require anything new on the desktop. In your case the QR scan could invoke the mobile browser and then launch PaymentRequest based on a session-URL provided in the QR code. Initially I actually had exactly this solution.
