Hi Nick and Adrian, After discussion with Michel Weksler, we propose to send this message to the Working Group, then do some individual outreach to get some people to prepare. Are you ok with this email? Ian ======== Subject: Web Payments In Asia discussion at TPAC? Dear Web Payments Working Group, tl;dr: if you would like to discuss Payments in Asia at TPAC, please let us know on this thread. If you would like to present at or help organize the session, please reach out to Ian and Michel. -- Michel Weksler and I were chatting recently about the TPAC 2018 agenda [1]. We noted that in Lisbon at TPAC 2016 the Web Payments interest Group held a session on Payments in China [2] where we heard from Alibaba (about Alipay), Baidu, Qihoo360, and Tencent (about WeChat). Now, two years later Payment Request API is specified in detail and gaining traction, but we've not heard a lot about Payment Request use cases or adoption in Asia, especially in China and India. Michel and I thought that could be a fine topic for TPAC discussion and wanted to see if (1) other Working Group participants agree and (2) anyone would like to take the lead on organizing a session at TPAC to address topics such as: * What are the primary use cases in ASIA where Payment Request API would be of value? For example, is the primary use case that someone might want to make a mobile payment when shopping at a merchant site that can only be reached through the Web? What is the importance of this use case in various markets in Asia? Other example might be a similar use case, but when people are traveling to locations outside their home country. * Are there payment methods in countries in Asia that we need to be paying more attention to? * Are there authentication methods in countries in Asia that we need to be paying more attention to? What is the relationship of those authentication methods to Web Authentication? Please respond to this email (on the list or privately) to let Michel and me know whether you are interested in this topic, if you would like to speak about this topic at TPAC, and whether you'd like to help organize and lead this session.
