"First ACTIVE Summer School on Advanced Technologies for a Knowledge-Powered Enterprise" http://active09.ijs.si/ Bled, Slovenia, 4-6th September 2009 !!! limited participation to 40 !!! You are cordially invited to attend the "1st ACTIVE Summer School" that will take place from September 4 - 6 in Park Hotel, Bled, Slovenia. The summer school precedes the European Conference on Machine Learning "European Conference on Machine Learning and Principles and Practice of Knowledge Discovery in Databases - ECML PKDD 2009". Organised by ACTIVE FP7 Integrated Project (http://www.active-project.eu) and hosted by the Jozef Stefan Institute, the summer school seeks to bring together students, scholars and researchers from industry in order to share the recent developments, solutions and technologies from the areas of:: *Semantic technologies and content, *Social software and Web 2.0, *Adaptive and context-aware systems, *Context mining, *Process mining, *Knowledge filters, *Stream mining, *Anomaly detection, *Meta learning, *Forecasting, and *Social network analysis. During the three day summer school attendants will have an opportunity to listen to the invited speakers: Paul Warren (BT), Marko Grobelnik (JSI), Tobias Bürger (STI), Igor Dolinšek (HERMES SoftLab), Rayid Ghani (Accenture), Michael Witbrock (Cycorp), Lise Getoor (University of Maryland), Neel Sundaresan (eBay), Pat Moore (Bloomberg), Paolo Paganelli (Insiel), Denny Vrandečić (KIT), Marcel Tilly (Microsoft), Ian Mulvany (Nature). Participation is limited to 40 participants. Based on already expressed interest, we expect to receive more applications than there are places available. This is why we ask potential participants to send their expression of interest together with curriculum vitae in pdf format no later than July 1, 2009 to tina.anzic@ijs.si. Selected participants will be notified by July 15, 2009. The registration fee including accommodation for three nights in a three star hotel and sharing a double room is only 120 EUR. Without accommodation the cost is 50 EUR (teaching materials, refreshments, lunches, and one social event included).
