1) the monitor is writable (by editing the wiki).

2) you don't need to buy anything.  I'm pretty sure I could dig up a
monitor to borrow for the week, since both my home and work are less than
ten miles from the SCCC.  Then you need a net connection and a spare
computer, which also shouldn't be too hard to find.  Pretty sure borrowing
a Chromebox for a week is easy...
