This is a friendly reminder of Nicolas’ email with the World Athletics document. Please have a look and review it, if you haven’t done yet. It’s really interesting because it affects our discussions here and the future of the common database for athletes and competitions.

Also, please remind that the follow up meeting is scheduled next Tuesday 15th Nov (10.00 CET, 09.00 UTC). I’ll send a calendar invite as a reminder in case you don’t have it saved in your calendar.

In the meantime, please feel free to raise questions in advance so we can include in the agenda explicitly.

Dear member of the Athletics data community,

European Athletics joins World Athletics in its effort to have all parties working with the same data model, as discussed during the 2021 AthTech Data Conference in Croatia.

From the discussion we had in Zadar, we are glad to share the attached data collaboration model. This will be discussed during this week’s European Athletics Convention in Tallinn. Please reach out to your federation if you wish to make any comment.

In any case, we will organise a call in November with all those interested by this initiative.

Looking forward to hearing your feedback about the model to be followed.

You have registered to the 2023 Calendar Networking session and to the Data Collection and Management Workshop.

Ahead of these meetings, we are pleased to provide you with some background reading.

European Athletics endorses the World Athletics Data Exchange project for gathering competition results into World Athletics Comprehensive Database. This global project aims at unifying the way competition data and results are exchanged amongst federations and Service providers
You will find attached the technical details of this data exchange model. We suggest you share it with your internal IT team and / or trusted Timing and / or Results Service Providers. They will be able to provide some useful feedback to European Athletics and World Athletics during the Q&A session in Tallinn.

We look forward to discussing this topic with you in Tallinn.
