CALL FOR PARTICIPATION AAIA’15 Data Mining Competition at the Knowledge Pit http://www.fedcsis.org/aaia We are happy to announce that this year’s edition of a data mining competition associated with 10th International Symposium on Advances in Artificial Intelligence and Applications (AAIA’15) was launched earlier this week. AAIA'15 is held as part of the FedCSIS 2015 - an annual international multi-conference organized by the Polish Information Processing Society (PTI) in technical cooperation with the IEEE Region 8, IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Poland Section Computer Society Chapter, IEEE Poland (Gdansk) Section Computer Society Chapter, IEEE-CIS Poland Section Chapter, ACM Special Interest Group on Applied Computing, ACM Lodz Chapter, IEEE SMC Technical Committee on Computational Collective Intelligence, European Alliance for Innovation, Committee of Computer Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Polish Operational and Systems Research Society, Eastern Cluster ICT Poland, and Mazovia Cluster ICT. As in the previous year, the main topic of the competition is related to a challenge of increasing firefighter safety and supporting decisions of commanders during fire & rescue actions. In particular, we would like to ask participants to devise efficient solutions for a task of automatic recognition of firefighter activities. In the competition we provide a data set containing readings from a body sensor network developed within ICRA project for a purpose of real-time screening of firefighters’ vital functions and kinematics. The data were obtained during training exercises conducted in Main School of Fire Service in Warsaw and labelled with tags describing a posture and activity of the firefighters. The task for participants is to predict labels for short time series of our sensor readings. Prizes worth over 4,000 PLN will be awarded to the most successful teams participating in the competition by our main sponsor – Polish Information Processing Society (PTI). We also plan to invite authors of selected solutions to prepare extended descriptions of their approaches in a form of conference papers. Those articles will be reviewed by Organization Committee members and treated as regular AAIA’15 submissions (including indexation in the Thomson Reuters Web of Science, DBLP, Scopus and other portals). Find out more about our competition at https://knowledgepit.fedcsis.org/contest/view.php?id=106 and join us in this exciting challenge! IMPORTANT DATES - March 9, 2015: start of the competition, data sets become available, - June 1, 2015: deadline for submitting the predictions, - June 5, 2015: deadline for sending the reports, end of the challenge, - June 8, 2015: on-line publication of final results, sending invitations for submitting short papers for the special session, - June 22, 2015: deadline for submissions of papers describing the selected solutions, - July 6, 2015: deadline for submissions of camera-ready papers selected for presentation at the CEIM'15 workshop.
