In ResearchSpace we use an Image Fragment (#xywh) to select the view area. We can compute the required zoom level and tiles from the fragment area.

See this (please note this is the old OAC ontology, not the new AO ontology).

Eg the annotation targets <DT219363.tif#xywh=1000,900,250,250>, and we also say:
  <DT219363.tif#xywh=1000,900,250,250> dcterms:isPartOf <DT219363.tif>.
