While your suggestion of starting from scratch is certainly a way of addressing it, it throws away information that has been elaborated during countless years. It is possible that OA might not be the right place to define it since it seems to be very digital centric, and we need more flexibility annotating digital representations of the real world.. Let's see if I can make progress with the TEI. They seem to be more focused addressing this kind of problems. Thanks anyway for all your kind advices! David
