Comments on latest Drafts

Hi Leigh and all

Here are Sport England's comments on the latest draft docs:

Modelling Opportunity Data

Fig 2 & 4.2

Does the diagram need to reference facilities under Place or is that supposed to be within conatinedinplace? If so conatinedinplace should be referenced under Place in 4.2

4.2

Still unsure over the grouping of activities. These tend to be grouped from the perspective of a sports administrator and not from the perspective of a consumer e.g. a consumer would not search for Martial Arts they would search for the exact sport - Karate etc. Although this issue is discussed in the note, I wonder whether the main text can be reinforced around this in terms of the challenges etc. and the better approach being the use of tags. My main concern is that this could legitimise a lot of providers leaving their lists as they are as they will think that they broadly fit with the standards and this will not achieve the step change in the sector we want.

Standard Activity List - The note says that this is outside this specification but we believe that this is within the specification and this is what is being published by the end of March. Previous discussions within the group supported this approach. Can we get clarity on this in the call?

4.5

Last sentence - in terms of equipment I would change the last bit to "may be moved between facilities within a place"

5.5 Describing events - Example 6

The example provided of Tai Chi does not seem to support the idea of tags in 4.2 as it places Martial Arts and Combat within activity. Allowing this would have an impact on developing long term ambitions around booking. Could there not be a separate activity tags property be created which would allow these supporting multiple entries but the activity be kept as a single entry from the proposed standard list? Is this bringing in the skos:broader property described in 5.8.1?

5.6.2 schema containsinplace & 5.6.3

Can Active Places data model also be referenced here or somewhere else, accepting that it has not gone through any processes like schema.org but it does seek to define the different types of facilities which schema.org does not do.

5.7

Should we provide an example of a person publishing as well as an organisation, as we have the note about personal data below?

Open Active Vocabulary

Introduction - Can we copy across the Introduction from the other document to provide a more user friendly introduction about what we are seeking to achieve? It probably also needs to introduce a bit more on what the vocabulary is trying to achieve.

Other Comments

When these are published are there any particular areas we are seeking comments on? If so what are they?
