Nostr W3C Community Group: Welcome!

Dear Nostr W3C Community Group members,

I am thrilled to welcome you to the Nostr W3C Community Group! As a
collective, we're eager to embark on this journey together to explore the
role of Nostr within the world of web standards.

*About the Group and Nostr*

The primary purpose of our group is to investigate and support the
integration of Nostr within the broader ecosystem of web standards. Nostr,
as many of you may know, is a versatile and robust protocol that allows the
exchange of information (notes and other stuff) in a distributed manner,
using the W3C websocket standard, over relays. Our group is composed of a
diverse range of professionals and enthusiasts from various backgrounds.
The content and discussion should be technical, but also beginner friendly,
so that all can develop a shared understanding.

*Group Structure*

The Nostr W3C Community Group will function as a self-organizing entity. As
a very small group we won't be holding regular teleconferences, we will
maintain a dedicated github area for sharing updates, proposals, and
resources. This will help us stay connected, informed, and engaged with
each other's progress.

*Work Items*

The main standarization nostr will happen outside of this group, in the
nostr protocol github area and NIPs. Our primary objective is to study the
intersection of Nostr with web standards and identify opportunities for
synergy.

Some key areas of focus include:

*Documentation:* Beginner friendly documentation should be provided. Both
for users and developers. How to get started. How to use nostr. Tips and
tricks.

*Nostr Vocabulary:* Developing a linked data vocabulary for Nostr to ensure
seamless interoperability. I have begun work on this.

Context: w3id.org/nostr/context

I would like to try and get this vocab from 0.0.x to a first 0.1.0 version,
with the help of this group
*Tracking DID Nostr work;* Tracking and reviewing the various did nostr
efforts, such as: https://github.com/TBD54566975/did-nostr

*HTTP Auth:* Tracking and reviewing HTTP Auth NIP at:
https://github.com/v0l/nips/blob/nip98/98.md

*Web Storage:* Tracking various efforts to use Nostr with web storage. My
own effort, https://nosdav.com, is a work in progress in this area

Other items may be added or brainstormed by members. I expect the group
will initially be very quiet, as, in general 80% of CG members tend to be
lurkers, and we are only 14 members right now. Nevertheless, I hope we can
produce some useful material.

*Point of Contact between W3C Groups and Nostr*

We will act as a liaison between the W3C groups and the Nostr community,
facilitating communication and collaboration to ensure that our efforts
align with the wider web standards landscape. For example how it aligns
with certain use cases and groups, such as, web agents, the social web,
Solid, PKI and storage.

We are excited to have you as part of the Nostr W3C Community Group, and we
look forward to working together towards a more connected, decentralized,
and innovative web. Let's embark on this journey together and create a
lasting impact in the world of web standards!

Best Wishes

Melvin Carvalho
