Dear all,
Now that for most of us the summer is over and a new academic year is
about to start (or just started), I would like to update you on the
activities of our community group.
I have seen that some new people joint the group, so first of all:
Welcome to everyone who is new in this group!
General organization:
* Most discussions we had and have in this group are captured on our
github <https://github.com/w3c/N3/issues/>. All of you are welcome
to add your opinions here or to open new issues you would like to
discuss.
* Additionally to the github discussions we also have *weekly
meetings* which take place every *Monday at 6 pm CEST
<http://www.timebie.com/std/centraleuropean.php?q=18>*. To join a
meeting, you can use this skype link:
https://join.skype.com/aRBuOasYurPd. We capture the notes of these
meetings in a google doc
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1A3HAUhjaVnnJ6yVbFAvIBRJQjUY9aFlQ2_bGxkD0mnE/edit?usp=sharing>.
Updates on recent topics:
* *built-ins*: we are still discussing which built-ins should be part
of N3 and which not, you can add your opinion to our google doc
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ByEWSADIvebHRrBda0HhdKhHhp444mYM7BAapXVIJoM/edit?usp=sharing>for
that.
* *N3 and named graphs*: Wiliam Van Woensel and I recently wrote a
short paper about how we see the connection between named graphs and
N3. This was presented at RuleML+RR, I attached this paper to this
e-mail.
* *Definition of N3's Semantics*: We plan to define N3's semantics in
here <https://github.com/w3c/N3/tree/master/spec> (thank you Dominik
for setting it up). We plan to start from RDF semantics
<https://www.w3.org/TR/rdf11-mt/> and the recent journal paper
<https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=8&ved=2ahUKEwjr9r7ep_HkAhVCVRUIHczxB04QFjAHegQIAxAC&url=https%3A%2F%2Flirias.kuleuven.be%2Fretrieve%2F538076%2F&usg=AOvVaw07BlthlMZO-Hr98q5BAe0P>
on that topic.
* *Outreach*: We presented N3 and our community at RuleML+RR 2019
<https://rulemlrr19.inf.unibz.it/> and had some interesting
discussions. We would like to target other conferences (ISWC,
ESWC,?). Your suggestions are welcome.
As a last point, I would like to say that we plan to take one more week
of summer break (even though the summer is technically over :( ). So,
our *next meeting* will take place at*Monday, October 7th at 6pm CEST*.
In the mean time I would be interested in your opinions about the paper
I attached (but also all other topics are welcome!).
Kind regards,
Doerthe (on behalf of the chairs)
