Dom: any one had a chance to run them on a mobile browser?
Wilhelm: barely started; did dromaeo on one device, which ran out of
memory
Kai: couldn't run v8 on my iphone
<scribe> ACTION: Dom to run the performances test on a few devices
[recorded in
[13]http://www.w3.org/2008/09/09-mwts-minutes.html#action02]

<scribe> ACTION: Carmelo to start a draft of guidelines on writing
device independent test cases [recorded in
[16]http://www.w3.org/2008/09/02-mwts-minutes.html#action02]
[ONGOING]
[16] http://www.w3.org/2008/09/02-mwts-minutes.html#action02
Carmelo: the QA WG started something along these lines; will use
that as a starting point
Kai: Ian Hickson's CSS test guidelines is also a good starting point

Testing Widgets?
<scribe> ACTION: Kai to contact editor of Widgets packaging spec to

[18] http://www.w3.org/2008/09/02-mwts-minutes.html#action03
Kai: Markus (the editor) is quite busy - some parts of the spec is
stable and possibly testable, but it is still very much up in the
air
<Carmelo> Quality Assurance Group Document

[19] http://www.w3.org/TR/test-metadata/
Kai: would make a good deliverable later on - probably in the
November timeframe
... this would fit well in my job assignments
Dom: ok, bring it back to the group when you think this is ready for
testing, then?
kai: will do
Testing cookies support
<scribe> ACTION: Wilhelm to look into opera's test suites for
cookies [recorded in
[20]http://www.w3.org/2008/09/02-mwts-minutes.html#action04]
[ONGOING]
[20] http://www.w3.org/2008/09/02-mwts-minutes.html#action04
Wilhelm: we do have a test suite - I'm looking into making it public
(after cleaning up)
Testing plugin support?
<scribe> ACTION: Kai to look into testing for plugin support
[recorded in
[21]http://www.w3.org/2008/09/02-mwts-minutes.html#action05] [DONE]
[21] http://www.w3.org/2008/09/02-mwts-minutes.html#action05
<dom_scribe> [22]Kai on plugin support
[22] http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-mwts/2008Sep/0006.html
Dom: seems a bit complicated to test for support of
installation/download of plugins
Kai: indeed, getting the plugin installed seems to be difficult
... the test itself is easy - but there is almost a political
question of whether to push for plugins
... plugins can bring both the best and the worse to the Web
Wilhelm: my personal opinion is that plugins in many cases allow
proprietary lock-in instead of open standards
... e.g. flash video instead of <video>
Kai: agreed, although video on the web exists mostly through flash
video
... Opera does support Gears, for instance, right?
Wilhelm: we often have troubles with plugin vendors
Kai: part of our mission in Aplix is to deploy functionalities that
are not available in browsers
Wilhelm: we use a similar approach to access hardware capabilities
Dom: it would be hard to develop a plugin installable on any
platform, right?
Kai: we do it
<scribe> ACTION: Dom to look closer at the plugin support test
[recorded in
[23]http://www.w3.org/2008/09/09-mwts-minutes.html#action09]
