W3C launches a new group on Mobile Web for Social Development

Dear All,

most of the subscribers of this list are coming from the workshop on the
Mobile Web in Developing Countries W3C organized in December 2006 in
Bangalore.
This event in Bangalore was a first attempt for W3C to investigate the
role it could play in the area of Social DEvelopment, and Digital Divide.
Starting from the output of this event, we went on discussing all over
the World with different communities which are active in that area.
all these discussions eventually led to the creation of a new W3C group
called Mobile Web for Social Development.
this group has been officially announced last week (see
http://www.w3.org/2008/05/mw4dig-pressrelease.html ).
The home page of the group is at http://www.w3.org/2008/MW4D/.
This group, open to public participation, will conduct its work and
discussion on a new mailing-list public-mw4d@w3.org archived at
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-mw4d/

For those who are interested to follow what's going on, i will encourage
you to subscribe to this list.
you can also decide to join officially the group. Details of
subscription and participation are at
http://www.w3.org/2008/MW4D/participation.html

This list, public-mwi-ec, will be shortly closed in order to avoid
duplication in purpose but the archives will stay available from our site.

Feel fre to contact me for any question you would have.
