For those of you who saw UNICEF's presentation at the mw4d conference in Brazil and wanted to look at, hack on, or use the RapidSMS system, we have put the code on sourceforge. You can find it here: http://rapidsms.sourceforge.net For those that don't know, RapidSMS is an open source SMS-based monitoring, data collection tool and communication tool that allows both quantitative and qualitative data through SMS forms and bulk SMS messaging feature. It also incudes support for IVR interaction and voice callback. It is mostly built in python and uses other large opensource projects such as Django, Asterisk, Kannel, and MobilEd. Matt Berg of the Millennium Villages Project based out of Columbia University, wrote a long review of the software here: http://www.mvpafrica.org/wiki/bin/view/ICT4D/RapidSMS -- Merrick Schaefer Technical Project Coordinator UNICEF Youth Section, Division of Communication 3 UN Plaza, New York, NY 10017 Tel: 212-326-7461 Fax: 212-326-7768 Mobile: 206-484-9177 mschaefer@unicef.org unite for children
