First MusicXML 4.0 Draft Community Group Report published

Hello all,

The first complete draft of the MusicXML 4.0 Community Group Report has been published at:

https://w3c.github.io/musicxml/drafts/4.0-2021-05-14/ <https://w3c.github.io/musicxml/drafts/4.0-2021-05-14/>

Please take the opportunity to review this report. Please post any problems you find or suggestions for improvement as an issue at our GitHub repository:

https://github.com/w3c/musicxml/issues <https://github.com/w3c/musicxml/issues>

The only outstanding issues that we know about in this draft are:

1) When you look at the “Where is this type used?” section of the data type documentation, some elements may be missing.
2) We can use more examples for elements added in versions 3.1 and 4.0. We have made a start but there is more to do here.

We are interested in anything you find, including any descriptions or examples that are incorrect, text that could be clarified, or simple typographic errors. MusicXML is a big format so there is a lot of documentation. There are sure to be errors in this draft.

We are still planning on releasing MusicXML 4.0 by our June 1 target. Any review that you can provide over the next week will be particularly appreciated.

Thanks to Adrian Holovaty for creating the documentation tool that made this Community Group Report possible. I hope that you find it easier to use than the previous version we had for MusicXML 3.0.

Best regards,
